ENLIGHTENMENT CAMPAIGN BEGINS IN PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL
The National Psychiatric hospital,Yaba, has commenced its enlightenment campaign against victimization of mentally challenged patients, as part of activities to celebrate its 100 years of existence in october this year. This was made known yesterday during an interview with one of its administrative officers, Mr Rotimi Ebofuai.
According to him, the public's attitude against mentally challenged patients and its stigmatization is one of the basic challenges faced in the psychiatric hospital.
In order to curb this act, Mr. Ebofuai disclosed that the hospital's management has started an enlightenment campaign since the month of May among students and the entire public. The general administrative officer, Mr.Bankole olawole, however appealed to the Federal Government of Nigeria to increase its subvention towards staff welfare and general well-being of patients, as the hospital celebrates its centenary.
